Self-Sufficient or God-Sufficient???

Hi guys, Good morning!… 🙂

Okay so I’ll just share a quick one. This morning I was woken up by a very heavy burden in my heart, like literally really heavy that I couldn’t just deal. My alarm didn’t even help wake me up, it was that burden that felt like a trailer load of bags of cement that did the wake up call. I could feel my blood pressure rise like that of the Mercury of a thermometer in contact with hot/boiling water (Egba mi o!). I was hypo ventilating and thought I was going to pass out for real, I just couldn’t understand what was happening and why it was happening. I tried to calm myself down but all to no avail, even at some point I thought about going to my parents bedroom should incase I eventually had passed out but thank God I didn’t. So I tried to pray but the words seemed like they were on strike, immediately I sort to look out for a scripture that would release the words to address my situation. Fortunately, I found one (Psalm 28:7) which I read out/ prayed repeatedly, then I began to feel some form of ease, as I also alongside played a song by Kari Jobe (Steady my heart).

Lessons to be learnt

In life’s growth, you’ll experience great challenges, you’ll have multiple deposits of heavy “burdenssses”(there’s no word like that), heavier than a trailer load of cement or even heavier than planet earth itself. Now the questions are:

  • When all these happen, where/who do you run to for help???…
  • Do you on the norm, think you’re self sufficient to handle your burdens???…
  • Do you think that your parents or loved ones hold the keys to the solution of the burdens???…
  • Do you channel the energies of your burdens to mere mortals???…

God is saying “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28-29). 1Peter 5:7says “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you”.

So when next you feel like the whole world is crumbling down on you, don’t feel self sufficient or entrust your hope of help in mere mortals. Instead put your trust in God, He is God-ficient. Reach out to him first through His word, search out a scripture that addresses your situation and pray that scripture back to Him. He honors his words more than His name, His words never return to Him void without accomplishing the purpose for which it was sent, He is an ever present help in time of need (but don’t be a parasite). When you acknowledge him first and allow Him take the wheel in that given situation/challenge, he may then decide to use mere mortals to carry out His plans or decided to work on your heart Himself by lifting up the burden and filling your heart with joy, that the burden becomes insignificant, having no effect on your happiness.

Always remember that real-raw gold has to pass through the furnace to come out pure and beautiful. So when God permits pain, know that He’ll also provide comfort.

I hope this helps. Have an amazing and fruitful day… 🙂
