Basically, all God wants from us is an intimate and personal relationship with him because he loves us all. He wants us to get close to him. Many people mix up “Having a true relationship with God” with “Practicing religion( false relationship)” which ought not to be so. Okay lemme break it down;
Practicing religion simply means performing or carrying out certain right actions just for religious sake,( For example:- Going to church on sundays just because “sunday” is generally scheduled for church service or because you don’t want people to see you as a pagan or an irresponsible person) thereby making things seem as if its a set of rules and compulsory obligation one must follow. In that case there is no aim, no gain, no joy, no peace of mind or fulfillment in what your doing because its not being done from your heart, its either you where forced to do it or your just doing it for eye service. God does not want this from us.
Whereas Having a true relationship with God means having genuine association, a constant communication and connection with him. In this case, you don’t do the right things just for religious sake but from you heart, because your willing to do them, because you have a purpose and would gain a lot from it, (For example: Here, you don’t have to go to church because you are forced to or because of eye-service but because you love God, you desire to be in his presence, learn more about him and get closer to him) and this comes with joy, peace of mind and fulfillment.
God has a whole lot of good things lined up in store for us and in order to get those good things, that true relationship with him has to be established (Matt 6: 33, John 15: 7). We ought to make God the sole foundation in everything we do. Many a times we tend to lean on our own understanding and get things wrong, then we wonder why our plans didn’t work out successfully??! Its because we didn’t acknowledge him in the first place. We should learn to stop leaning upon self- intelligence because it won’t lead us far and to the expected end (Proverbs 16: 3, 9, 25 & Proverbs 3: 5-6). There’s nothing better than having a true relationship with God first before any other person or thing. Love God with all of your heart, Get close to him first and every other thing you wish to have would be given unto you freely/ easily. Ciao!…
