Little do we realize that numerous eyes are watching and ears listening to what we do and what we say respectively…
Right from my early age and up till now(I’m not old tho!), I get so fascinated with the thoughts of becoming that extraordinarily “beautiful” and enterprising drop-dead gorgeous woman of letters and substance. So I get really excited when I get to see or meet one. The next thing I do is to read-up on the biographies and keep a close watch on the lives of such women, of which I either end up looking up to directly or indirectly. Thanks to the various social media sites that have made the process of watching from far beyond so easy.. Lol… Oh yes!…. I watch my mentors and likewise role models from time to time, little do these role models know I actually exist or even have an idea that some young lady somewhere in the cubicle of her thoughts, looks up to them. In essence, the fact I’m trying to depict here is that you have no idea the number of people watching and looking up to you. You might be thinking you are too young, not famous, not of much relevance or significance and that whatsoever you do makes no significant difference but the truth is that you’re not too young or insignificant for people to learn one or two things from. It’s not until you receive a standing ovation, an award or run a multi-billion dollar enterprise or own a conglomerate that you’ll know people are watching and learning from your life actions. As a matter of fact, it’s most of those seemingly insignificant actions we take that speak tons of messages to people around. Sometime ago, I was discussing with a friend of mine and he that said the major reason he stayed away from knowing Christ or anything that had to do with church for sooo long, back in uni was because certain ladies who claimed to be choristers in the church, would come to “chill” with him or some of his guys in their rooms and still end up mounting the pulpit to minister the next day. The one that baffled him the most was when The pastor called one of them while she was “chilling” with him and she lied about where she was without stress or being put under duress. Our actions actually speak louder than our words or intentions.
In our today’s society, the morals/culture of early times has been consistently dragged in the mud, as it has drastically depreciated in practically all ramifications. Younglings of this generation are constantly watching and making do with what they see or hear. It’s in this generation that you’ll see young teenagers actively involved in “premarital sex” and getting pregnant anyhow(16 and pregnant, teen mom tv programs) or getting involved with hard drugs and our society seems so laid back, making these seem like the norm, like its no big deal..They need help to grow in the right path and it all starts from you and me. Late last year, one of my aunts came to spend a few days in our house with her little kids and a niece, a young girl of about 13years or so. The day they were leaving, my mum told me the young girl told her she likes me and would want to be like me when she grows up. I mean, I was confused and wondering what she might have been seeing in me and taking note of. The “when I grow up” was the part that confused me the most because I was like; what do I have? or what have I achieved?, when me I’m still in the process of growing. In essence younglings are constantly watching and taking notes of every of your moves, be you young or old. Someday, a situation may arise for them when they’ll have to make decisions themselves, then they’ll just think to themselves : “what did mum or dad or aunt Kemi or Uncle Tunde do in the same situation”, before making their decisions. This not only applies to younglings but every age category of people. You can’t be a father who womanizes and expect your lil soldiers not to womanize when they grow up, except your attitude by God’s grace turns out to be a counter effect on their lives. A counter effect in the sense that the wrong attitude will inspire them not to live their lives the way you do.
In a nutshell, the manner in which you live your life is your profound message to everyone around you. It either helps to add value to or devalue a neighboring life. Now the question is:- What roles are you playing in order to be a good example to younglings or even other people out there??? … Choose to be the best you can be at all times, so as to set good examples for people around you. You may not know who exactly has got you under their spotlight, who you’re inspiring and influencing to be better at your good or even better at your bad, whichever case it may be. I’ll just bring my fingers to a halt by leaving you with this Bible passage :-
Matthew 18:6-7New International Version (NIV)
Causing to Stumble
6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!
