Fear and Discouragement, the very common factors that cause the premature death of meaningful aspirations, aims and goals in life. Fear is an abstract response to percieved physical or emotional threat causing a pull back from the peceived threat or danger while Discouragement is that feeling of having lost confidence and hope. It’s basically a mindset of impossiblities. These two work hand in hand, in the sense that when fear rares its ugly head and is not overcomed, doubt slowly comes into the picture and discouragement takes its course. The truth is that fear and discouragement are inevitable when it comes to the process of pursuit of meaningful goals in life and the plain reason is because nothing good comes easy. They come as stumbling blocks, so it’s left for you as an individual to either allow them make you stumble or make you turn them into stepping stones.
Many a time, when people give the first process of their goals a try and for somes reasons fail, they just lose hope, focus, give up like that and probably settle for a lesser option B. Sometimes people create the fears and discouragement by their reckless sword-piercing words, other times they are created by the situation surrounding us and most times are created by our own selves. Let me sight an example with myself; Okay so not long after i committed myself totally and genuinely to God, he told me i was goin to start up this blog and i was like “how on earth is that going to be possible when i’m not much of a computer person, i’m not a fan of reading articles, books, long broadcast messages e.t.c not to talk of writing posts people can read and gain from, when i don’t have an idea of creating a blog site not to talk of managing it and i don’t have an idea of what it would be about not to talk of naming it“. Basically, i just didn’t see myself doing this and if one had told me earlier that i would be writing someday, i would have just laughed and thanked the person for mocking me. You see that was me outrightly discouraging myself with those limiting thoughts but out of the limiting thoughts, i just told myself that since its God’s decision and not my personal decision, there’ll surelly be a way out. So here i am now writing posts, although i’m not there yet but i’m also not where i used to be and i thank God for that. The funny thing is that there’s a strong link to my own personal decisions in life (Proverbs 16:9). That’s why getting close to God can never be overemphasized. Another example was one day when i sent a broadcast message on bbm about the link of one of my posts and later saw someone’s recent update saying “Nawa oh, everybody now has a blog, i wish people had to pay for the blogging sites“. Of course some people do pay for their blogging sites and even advertise it because they probabaly earn their income from it. The person might probably not have been referring to me but I felt really bad and lost my confidence for that moment because i happened and still happen to be one of those using the free wordpress blogging site. I interpreted the statement as; “So because people are blogging, you too are blogging and misusing the blogging site because its free“ . I was worried and then remembered that this whole blogging stuff wasn’t done out of my own will but God’s, most of my posts came out from the knowledge and understanding of what God had put in me and what i had been learning from my everyday experiences. I also remembered the words of encouragement from people and in no time i got my confidence back. What i’m trying to point out here is that people will laugh at you, mock you, say all sorts of discouraging things, assist in putting you in discouraging surroundings but you should learn to always commit your dreams/ aspirations/ goals into God’s hands because he’ll surely direct the path you should thread on and always be optimistic, holding on to him because he’ll surely help you turn the stumbling blocks into stepping stones to greater heights.
Have you ever wondered how an aeroplane takes off and goes higher, opposing the force of gravity, experiencing turbulences and yet still take people safely to their destinations??? That’s how you should think and be. You might as well be wondering about those planes that crash, thereby cutting short the journey and not taking people safely to their destinations, right??? Yes if you look into the history of such cases, you find out that the aeroplane might have had some form of engine fault or the other or might have had the presence of suicide bombers/ hijackers. Its exactly the same way it applies to us humans. So ask God to help you amend your faults and completely cut off any form of hijackers in your life.
